Liverpool fixtures Virgil van Dijk could miss after injury blow confirmed
Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is expected to be out for at least a month due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the team’s 3-1 defeat against Brentford.
Van Dijk was replaced at halftime by Joel Matip, and although Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp initially downplayed the injury, further assessments have revealed a more serious issue.
Van Dijk will undergo additional testing this week to determine the extent of the injury, but there are concerns he could be out for the rest of the month.
If he is unable to play, Konate and Matip are expected to be Liverpool’s primary center-back pair, with Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips also available.
Van Dijk has started all 23 Premier League and Champions League matches for Liverpool this season and scored two goals in the Premier League.
He had played the full 90 minutes in every game prior to the Brentford match.
