Aston Villa sign defender Alex Moreno

Aston Villa has acquired Alex Moreno, a full-back player, from Real Betis for a reported fee of £13 million. The 29-year-old’s transfer is subject to international clearance and visa application.

Moreno is the first signing made by Unai Emery, Aston Villa’s coach, during the January transfer window, Emery had aimed to recruit a wideman.

Moreno can play in left side of midfield and also increase competition for Lucas Digne, who joined Aston Villa from Everton for £25million last year.

Moreno played 122 matches for Real Betis, scoring six goals. He transferred to Real Betis from Real Vallecano after starting his career at Mallorca.
