Newcastle Secures Guimarães’ Future with Fresh Deal
Bruno Guimaraes, the midfielder for Newcastle, extended his contract with the Premier League club for another five years.
Since joining Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022, Guimaraes has played a pivotal role in the club’s ascent.
The 25-year-old Brazilian will remain with the Magpies until at least 2028, a commitment that fills him with joy. Guimaraes expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m absolutely delighted. The fans have embraced me as one of their own since my very first day here, and I’ve never felt more loved in my life. I’m extremely happy here.”
Guimaraes, who has scored 11 goals in 67 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle, made the switch from Champions League football to a relegation battle in the Premier League when he arrived on Tyneside. However, he has played a pivotal role in helping Eddie Howe’s team secure a place in the Champions League themselves. Their impressive 4-1 victory over Paris Saint Germain in the group stage serves as a testament to their determination.
Reflecting on his journey, Guimaraes shared, “I remember during my first interview, I expressed my desire to represent this club in the Champions League, and now it’s becoming a reality.” He added, “We are performing exceptionally well, and when I see my teammates on the pitch, I’m filled with pride. I’m proud of everyone – the team, the staff, the owners, and the fans. The city’s belief is restored.”
Eddie Howe also praised Guimaraes, emphasizing his importance to the team’s recent success. He remarked, “He’s such a crucial player, and he has excelled since joining the club. His consistent and outstanding performances on the pitch are complemented by a fantastic personality off it.”
