Newcastle United ‘make offer for Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy’

Ferland Mendy, a full-back for Real Madrid, has reportedly received an offer to join Newcastle United.

The English club is looking to strengthen its squad during the January transfer window and currently sits third in the Premier League table, just two points behind Manchester City.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Newcastle has made a “very big offer” for Mendy, who has been Real Madrid’s first-choice left-back this season, making 18 appearances in all competitions.

Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and other unnamed Premier League clubs may also be interested in signing Mendy.

His contract with Real Madrid does not expire until 2025, but the club may consider selling him for the right offer.

Mendy has made 123 appearances for Madrid since joining from Lyon in 2019 and has helped the team win two La Liga titles and the Champions League.
