According to recent reports, Aston Villa has agreed to pay a fee of approximately £12.5 million for Real Betis defender, Alex Moreno.
This move marks the first signing made by Unai Emery as Villa’s manager, who took over the role following the dismissal of Steven Gerrard in October.
Moreno, an attacking wing-back who can also play on the left side of midfield, has been in good form for Betis in La Liga, having made 88 appearances and scoring 11 goals since 2019.
He was not present with the rest of his team during the recent Spanish Super Cup match against Barcelona, as he was finalizing his move to the United Kingdom.
Sky Sports has reported that while the fee has been agreed with Betis, the personal terms are expected to be unproblematic.
Moreno’s arrival may put pressure on current first-choice left-back Lucas Digne, who was a January transfer window signing from Everton last year for a transfer fee of up to £25m.
