Chelsea have announced that they have signed Molde striker David Datro Fofana to a six-year deal.
Fofana, 20, has scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 24 matches for Molde in the Norwegian Eliteserien this season. The reported fee for the transfer is £10.93 million ($13.15m).
Fofana is Chelsea’s latest January signing, following the acquisitions of Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile and Brazilian teenager Andrey Santos.
Fofana has made two international appearances for Ivory Coast, debuting in a 4-0 friendly victory over Burundi in November.
In a statement, Fofana said, “Hello dear fans, I’m here, I’ve arrived well and I’m very happy to sign for the club of my dreams. I’ll see you soon on the pitch, cheers!” Chelsea, who have struggled offensively this season and recently lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the Premier League, will face City again in the FA Cup on Sunday.
