Manchester United put one foot in EFL Cup final with three-goal win at Nottingham Forest

Manchester United is on the brink of reaching the League Cup final at Wembley after a 3-0 first-leg win over Nottingham Forest in the semi-final.

Goals from Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst, and Bruno Fernandes put United in control of the tie, and only a miraculous comeback in the second leg will prevent them from appearing in the final next month.

The win also puts United on the brink of their first domestic final since losing the 2018 FA Cup final, and their first trophy since 2017.

Forest, who have a rich history in the League Cup, will see this as a missed opportunity to have something to hold on to heading into the second leg.
